Feminism Throughout Like Drinking water for Chocolate

        

In today's society sexist points of perspective can still be viewed, from ladies wages towards the way they are supposed to dress and take action. The new Like Drinking water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel takes place in america border in Mexico. This story is placed during the the Mexican Trend, a time in which gender functions are firmly divided. Through the Mexican Wave a woman can be expected to get married to and take care of the property as well as the kids. Some of these custom can be plainly seen today in South america with some in the more traditional people. Like Water for Chocolate is no exception to this tradition. Women are still seen as second-rate to guys, however you will discover  a couple of characters that stand out because they prove themselves as capable as men. This can be noticed throughout the history with The female Elena's caring for the ranch, Tita standing for herself, and Gertrudis improving herself.         Throughout Mom Elena's life there is simply adversity, because of these problems Mother Elena must play both male and female roles in the household. She actually is a widowed mom of three and a farm owner without even a man in her aspect to do the items men are supposed to do, or what society expects those to do. Mama Elena helps to protect her farm from military that would like to raid her ranch despite the fact that she is totally aware of the apparent threat of the Revolutionary war this description now plagues the us border in Mexico. Inside the novel The female Elena claims; " We have never needed a man pertaining to anything; all by myself, We've done perfectly with my own ranch and my children. Men aren't that crucial in this life Father” ( 80 ). This demonstrates that Mamam Elena is able to always be independent by a man and it is able to care for the farm even in this time of warfare.
