During the post- WWII period, the United States had a process of transformation. Mechanization was becoming more common, especially in crop farms, and non-urban workers (who were generally black) moved to the cities of the region searching for work and a better life. Ethnic discrimination been with us nationwide, been a result of the captivity years, however it became more apparent after the presence of black persons in the urban centers increased quickly. The ethnicity segregation was so ingrained in culture that blacks and white wines wouldn't " mix” in public areas spaces, just like buses, restaurants, schools, movie theaters and even food markets. Also, voting was made hard to get at (the " legal” term is Disfranchisement) to African-Americans, who were taken off voter subscription by complex laws, as well by intimidation from white colored conservatives. Yet , in 1954, a motorola milestone phone was achieved; state-sponsored segregation in colleges was concluded by a Best Court lording it over. During this time of bigger demonstrations for equal civil rights and increased African-American pride, heart music became more than " party music” for young blacks; it has become a coming back flag intended for the City Rights Motion. (Citation) It reveals much regarding the improvisational and hybrid nature not merely of Black musical culture, but as well of the movement itself. The movement was extremely innovative and adaptive. For all of their spiritual strength, it was in the end much less interested in dogmatic ideas of ideological or tactical correctness, compared to trying to get the work of destroying segregation and disenfranchisement done. Much like the activity, black music was imaginative, adaptive, and eclectic. (citation) The Formation and Music Qualities of Heart and soul
