The experiment that is conducted, and written about in the paper 'The representation of polysemous words', by Devorah Klein and Gregory Murphy, endeavours to obtain the degrees where different sensory faculties of polysemous words use the same or diverse sort of representations. Even though homonyms from a linguistic perspective, are groups of terms that reveal the same orthographical and phonological characteristics, yet do not discuss the same semantic meaning. There are a number of assumptive perspectives pertaining to the root source of how two separate phrase meanings can converge on a single phonological portrayal, or how a single expression is able to individual into various and separate semantic meanings. But the term 'polysemy' identifies something that is definitely intrinsically more complicated, and as Klein and Murphy have observed in their daily news, more problematical in terms of defining its main source in addition to which techniques are the sensory faculties related and represented. What Klein and Murphy suggest by this, and still have studied with this paper, is definitely the process through which words semantically relate to the other person, through a procedure for extension. Klein and Murphy aim to 'provide data that will constrain accounts of the representation and processing of polysemy'(Klein and Murphy (2001)).
